Skeleton Tree

Skeleton Tree                                                                                                                                                                            Skeleton Tree was painted in January of 2017, as a part of a mass online action called “Watch Paint Dry.”  Artists throughout the US live-streamed themselves making or performing art works during the Presidential Inauguration.  “Skeleton Tree” was a backdrop for a performance called “Skeleton Dance.” 

The Skeleton Tree is a portrait of a system in decay.  The mysterious currency in the heart center suggests a life beyond death.

Skeleton Tree Flies                                                                                                                                                                         As a hopeful transition from the despair of Skeleton Tree, Skeleton Tree Flies imagines the possibility of metamorphosis.  From a dying system, the skeleton tree has severed from itself the unnecessary weight from the top and in the process discovers a great lightness and ease returns to the transformed system.

Both paintings were done while in great despair, and in the process of painting I was gifted future possibilities.
